Snorkeling at Pigeon Island

Pigeon Island, located off the coast of Nilaveli beach, is one of the two marine national parks in Sri Lanka. The island is divided into the Large Pigeon Island and Small Pigeon Island, both surrounded by fringing coral reefs. The shallow waters make it an ideal spot for snorkeling, where you can easily see colorful reef fish and massive brain corals. The most exciting aspect for many visitors is the chance to swim alongside harmless blacktip reef sharks and large green turtles. The visibility is often excellent, making it a paradise for underwater photography.
