Birdwatching in Bundala National Park

For bird enthusiasts, Bundala is a paradise. This coastal wetland is a maze of lagoons, marshes, and scrubland. It is particularly famous for the large flocks of Greater Flamingos that visit during the northern winter. However, the park is home to many other species year-round, such as painted storks, spoonbills, and various kingfishers. While primarily a bird sanctuary, you are also likely to see elephants, crocodiles, and turtles. The peaceful, watery landscape provides a different aesthetic compared to the dense jungles of Yala or Udawalawe.
