Sigiriya is an ancient rock fortress located in the central Matale District of Sri Lanka. Also known as Lion Rock, Sigiriya is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered one of the country’s most iconic landmarks.
The fortress was built by King Kashyapa in the 5th century AD as a defensive stronghold and a palace complex.
